About Us

On a two year 'life break' Alan and Lynita were only around three months into their world-wide trip, when they came to Kenya, and just didn't leave. "We happened to stay at a hostel in Nairobi where the owner was looking for a couple to run the place for a few months so he could have a break. We agreed, and I guess the rest is history" recalls the couple. While we were working at the hostel, everyone (including the current owner) encouraged us to start their own business, and one thing lead to another, and we did.

So we started from a small office, where we assisted guests book their accommodation, safaris and onward travel. Then after a long search, in April 2007 we found the perfect location for our new camp and safari company to be based in Nairobi. We then operated at this site for 5.5 years before buying our current property which is now the home to Wildebeest Eco Camp and Wildebeest Travels.

Set in 3.5 acres of beautiful gardens around eight kilometres from the city centre in the leafy suberb of Karen, it is within easy walking distance from all essential ammenities like bank, ATM, forex and supermarket, as well as a host of places to eat and mingle with the locals. With many of Nairobi's major attractions right on the doorstep, it is a great place to spend a few days exploring the sites, or transiting through the city.

Whether you choose to stay at our camp or somewhere else, you are welcome to book our safaris, or even come to our office to talk through your itinerary and discuss your holiday plans. Lynita and Alan both still work fro the business and are around the camp/office most days.

Alan & Lynita
Having lived in Kenya since 2006, they have built an extensive knowledge of the local travel industry, favourite locations, great hotels, and fun things to do.
Although born and bred in Australia, before moving to Nairobi, they had lived in the UK for five years. They were in the middle of an extensive backpacking holiday, when they arrived in Kenya, fell in love with the country and the people - and stayed!

Together they have travelled across four continents, staying in a range of backpackers, mid-range hotels and five star camps/hotels and resorts. They know the fun and challenges of travelling independently to tough locations and know the things that make a holiday special and memorable.

Having people you can trust and relate to at your travel destination is perhaps even more important for a destination like East Africa. You might need someone who can help you solve your problems or just a friendly face to talk to.

Lynita has extensive experience working in various aspects of large hotels and Alan’s expertise lies in transport and operations - so they are a great match!
